Boy’s body retrieved from concrete pillar 21 days after he fell in

Friday morning, the body of a 10-year-old kid who died after becoming trapped inside a 35-meter-deep

was recovered.

At 1:20 a.m., two members of the Dong Thap Province police department's rescue squad, using oxygen masks, descended to a depth of 24m in an iron pipe driven in around the pillar into which Thai Ly Hao Nam had fallen, and used

to retrieve his body up. It took approximately two hours to complete the task.

Nam's casket was then carried a kilometer to his home and given over to his family for burial. Nam's father, Thai Van Tan Tai, sat in a corner, sobbing, his eyes lifeless. Nguyen Thi My Linh, Nam's mother, sobbed and fell out in front of an altar made up for him.
