Dispute continues over ‘Miss Universe Vietnam’ name

The

(MUO) claims that Unicorp cannot utilize the Miss Universe Vietnam brand name when its contract expires, however Unicorp denies this.

On February 28, MUO announced that it will not extend its contract with Saigon Universe Corporation (Unicorp) because it failed to match

to the Miss Universe Vietnam competition. Unicorp no longer has the right to exploit MUO's intellectual property, including the Miss Universe brand and the name Miss Universe Vietnam, including its Vietnamese name "Hoa Hau Hoan Vu Viet Nam" according to JKN Global Group, which oversees MUO.

from Unicorp CEO Tran Viet Bao Hoang. He further stated that the current Miss Universe Vietnam copyright holder, Miss Universe Vietnam JSC, is not permitted to use the pageant's Vietnamese name. The conflict arose after a new unit obtained the copyright to Miss Universe Vietnam. Unicorp said on February 18 that they would continue to organize the Hoa Hau Hoan Vu Viet Nam pageant despite their MUO because they still hold the name. Unicorp also changed the name "Miss Universe Vietnam" to "Hoa Hau Hoan Vu Viet Nam" on its social media platforms.
