Vietnam sees decrease in traffic accidents

Since the

of a drive to ensure safety and order for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival and other significant festivities, traffic accidents in Vietnam have decreased.

, 1,854 traffic accidents occurred countrywide between November 15, 2022 and January 12, 2023, killing 1,026 people and injuring 1,323 others, a decrease of 6.12%, 3.84%, and 6.10%, respectively, from two months earlier.

There were 1,838 traffic accidents, costing 1,015 lives and injuring 1,319 people, representing a 6.17%, 3.43%, and 6.25% decrease, respectively. On the railway, fifteen incidents occurred, killing 11 people and injuring three others. Traffic cops around the country processed 521,000

and assessed fines totaling VND1 trillion (US$42.6 million).
