Shopee and TikTok Shop Raise Fees, Pressuring Sellers

Starting April 1, Shopee and TikTok Shop will increase platform fees,

online businesses. Shopee’s fixed fee for regular sellers will rise from 4% to 10%, while most will see an increase from 3-4% to 7-9%. TikTok Shop’s will also jump from 1-5.78% to 1.21-7.7%.

Many sellers worry about rising costs. Gia Bảo, a clothing seller, notes that in 2020, the fee was only 2%, but by April, it will reach 10%. With other expenses, his total cost per sale will

16.5%, forcing sellers to raise prices or accept lower profits.

By the end of 2024, Shopee had over 276,000 active regular sellers, while TikTok Shop had over 204,000. Experts predict higher fees will push small sellers out,

large brands. Analysts estimate that Shopee sellers now need a 30-40% to stay sustainable.

Despite challenges, online platforms remain key sales channels. Small sellers must adapt by cutting costs or
