On November 29, the Ministry of Education and Training made a significant announcement regarding changes to the high school graduation exam format starting from 2025. In the upcoming exams, candidates will be required to take four subjects, consisting of two

and two .

The four exam subjects will include

in Vietnamese literature and mathematics, while candidates can choose two elective subjects from a list that includes foreign languages, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology, economics and law education, computer science, and technology. The nationwide exams will be administered with uniform test papers, during , in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Regarding this change, notably, there has been some disagreement regarding the decision to no longer require foreign language, which is usually English, as a mandatory subject in the high school graduation exam from 2025.

The evaluation method for graduation recognition will integrate both process assessment and exam results, with a ratio aligned to the implementation of the 2018 high school education program. According to the newly announced plan, the People's Committees of provinces and
