India has successfully launched its first-ever
Named Aditya-L1, this spacecraft weighs more than 3,264 pounds (1,480 kg) and was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, South India. It was launched using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-XL), which stands at an impressive height of 44.4 meters. The launch was executed as per the planned schedule, taking place at 11:50 AM local time on September 2nd.
The spacecraft will travel a distance of 932,000 miles (1.5 million kilometers) over a period of 125 days (over four months) to reach its destination:
