Prime Minister Urges THACO to Explore High-Speed Railway Car Production

On February 8, 2025, during a working visit to Quang Nam province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the facilities of Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. In 2024, THACO sold over 91,000 vehicles, capturing more than 32% of the domestic market share, and exported over 1,100 vehicles,

exceeding $12.6 million. For 2025, the company plans to complete the construction of a new , focusing on product research and development. Their goal is to sell over 100,000 vehicles, emphasizing high-value products to achieve a revenue target of 80,847 billion VND, and to export over 4,000 vehicles, aiming for more than $35 million in revenue.

Additionally, THACO has

a 50,000-ton specialized container berth at the Chu Lai International Port, with a total investment of 1,590 billion VND, along with several new factories. The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport to promptly address procedures related to the investment project for the Cua Lo channel, enabling 50,000-ton ships to access Chu Lai port, ensuring practical and effective outcomes.

The Prime Minister encouraged THACO to participate in research, technology transfer, and the manufacturing of high-speed railway cars, aiming to advance towards locomotive production. He also expressed his belief that THACO would
