On September 15, at approximately 1:30 p.m. (12:30 a.m. on September 16 in Hanoi), a man aimed a gun at former US President Donald Trump from a fence on the eastern side of the golf course in Florida. The FBI has labeled this incident as a "murder attempt" and has arrested the suspect.
While Donald Trump was on the Trump International Golf Club course in West Palm Beach, near his Mar-a-Lago estate, a Secret Service agent protecting him observed the gun barrel protruding from the fence, about 275-460 meters away from the former president. The agent immediately fired at least four shots toward the suspect.
The suspect fled from the area behind the fence, leaving behind an AK-47-style rifle with a scope, a GoPro camera, and two backpacks. The suspect escaped in a black vehicle. A witness photographed the license plate and provided it to authorities. Shortly thereafter, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office intercepted the suspect on Interstate 95 and arrested him.
The suspect’s identity and motive have not yet been disclosed, but U.S. media reports identify him as Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old from Hawaii.
