Time running out for Titanic sub as search focuses on undersea sounds

Efforts to locate

in the vicinity of the Titanic wreckage intensified on Wednesday as rescuers turned their attention to a remote section of the North Atlantic Ocean where underwater sounds had been detected. However, officials cautioned that the origin of these sounds was uncertain and may not be linked to the vessel they were searching for.

As time grew critical, with the submersible's air supply expected to diminish within hours, an international search operation spanned

in pursuit of the Titan. This submersible had disappeared on Sunday while conducting to the renowned century-old shipwreck, with five individuals on board.

The U.S. Coast Guard reported that remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) were deployed underwater near the location where Canadian aircraft had recorded the enigmatic noises using sonar buoys on both Tuesday and Wednesday. However, no trace of the Titan had been found as of yet.

According to the company overseeing the submersible, the Titan embarked on its voyage equipped with 96 hours of air. This implied that the oxygen supply could be depleted by Thursday morning. Nevertheless, experts emphasized that the remaining air would be contingent on various factors, including whether the submersible still possessed power and how composed the occupants remained throughout the ordeal.
