MobiFone Transferred to Ministry of Public Security

On February 27, 2025, the Vietnamese government approved the transfer of MobiFone from the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) to the Ministry of Public Security. This move is part of a broader plan to

the CMSC and 18 other state-owned enterprises to the Ministry of Finance.

MobiFone, established in 1993 as Vietnam’s first mobile network operator, was restructured in 2014 into the MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation. It currently holds 17.9% of the

mobile telecommunications market, ranking third after Viettel (56.3%) and VNPT (nearly 21%).

In 2024, MobiFone reported a

of over VND 2,000 billion, exceeding its target by 56.7%. The company has been diversifying into digital services, with MobiFone Meet growing by 1,050%, Cloud services by 312%, mobiAgri by 49%, and MobiFone Invoice by 58%. As of late 2023, MobiFone’s total assets stood at VND 31,630 billion, with owner’s equity of VND 23,144 billion.

The government has directed the Ministry of Public Security and CMSC to ensure a

transfer process. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of state capital management and prevent , , and financial losses.
