The victims were found inside the bus, along the stream banks, and some were buried under debris and mud. Among the recovered bodies was a local police officer from Huy Giáp Commune, Nguyên Bình District, who was a passenger on the bus.
Authorities have confirmed that the landslide at Khuổi Ngọa also involved two 5-seat cars and approximately 10 motorbikes being swept away, in addition to the 29-seat bus from the Viet Trang transport company. Besides the bodies already found, local officials estimate that around 10 more people may still be missing at
Earlier, in the early hours of September 9, the 29-seat bus from Viet Trang, carrying about 15 people, was traveling on National Highway 34 from Bảo Lâm District towards Cao Bằng City. Upon reaching Ca Thành Commune, the bus was buried under falling debris and subsequently carried away by the stream beside the road.
