Tropical Storm Bebinca: forecast and development

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Depression Bebinca, which formed outside the country’s forecast area, intensified into a storm on the evening of September 10 after passing near the U.S. island of Guam.

At that time, the tropical storm's center was located approximately 12.7 degrees north latitude and 145.0 degrees east longitude, about 2,105 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. The maximum wind speed near the center of the storm was 65 km/h, with gusts reaching 80 km/h, and the central pressure was 998 hPa. The wind radius extended 200 km from the center of the tropical storm.

PAGASA's initial forecast suggests that tropical storm Bebinca may enter the Philippine forecast area by the evening of September 13 and exit the region the following day. During its time within the Philippine forecast area, the tropical storm will be locally named Ferdie.

Forecast agencies predict that Bebinca is likely to intensify into a severe tropical storm by the morning of September 13, with the possibility of strengthening further into a typhoon due to

in the Pacific. Current projections indicate that the storm might approach the coastline of Shanghai in eastern China.
