Cold wave brings sharp temperature drop to northern Vietnam

A series of strong cold fronts has caused temperatures in Hanoi to drop as low as 13°C, with forecasts predicting a further dip to 11°C by the weekend. In higher mountainous areas, temperatures are expected to fall below 7°C.

Other high-altitude regions have also seen frigid conditions. This morning, temperatures in Dong Van (Ha Giang Province) fell to 7°C, while Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc Province) recorded just over 8°C. Sa Pa (Lao Cai Province), Ngan Son (Bac Kan Province), and Trung Khanh (Cao Bang Province) all reported temperatures around 9°C.

In Hanoi, the lowest temperature recorded was over 13°C in Ba Vi. In other areas of the capital, such as Hoai Duc and Son Tay, temperatures dropped to 14°C, while the urban districts of Lang and Ha Dong registered 15°C.
