TV show "Vợ chồng son" clarifies misunderstanding after controversial episode

On November 29th, the producers of the TV show Vợ chồng son addressed a misunderstanding that arose after the airing of episode 586, which featured the story of married couple Trần Thị Thanh Tú (35 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) and Nguyễn Đình Tân (36 years old, Ho Chi Minh City).

The producers admitted that during the editing process, some of the couple’s statements were cut to comply with

"We have worked with Thanh Tú and Đình Tân to resolve the situation, aiming to prevent any further misunderstandings or negative opinions toward the couple," the production team stated.

Prior to this, Nguyễn Đình Tân issued a public apology, acknowledging that his story on the show had been misunderstood. He shared how he met his wife, Trần Thị Thanh Tú, online in 2016. A year later, he returned from Canada to Vietnam, where they finally met in person. Before meeting Thanh Tú, Tân had agreed to help a friend in Canada with some paperwork for the friend’s cousin.

"I had never met this person, nor had any romantic feelings for them. After speaking with Thanh Tú for a year and deciding she was the one I wanted to marry, I returned to Canada and declined to assist my friend's cousin. I then came back to Vietnam and married my wife. That’s the full truth. However, some parts of our conversation were edited out during the broadcast, leading to the misunderstanding," Tân explained.
