Mình cùng làm 2 bài tập sau đây để ôn lại các từ vựng và cấu trúc đã được dùng trong bài IELTS Writing Sample Task 1 nhé!

Exercise 2: Tìm những từ / cụm từ tiếng Anh phù hợp với những từ / cụm từ sau.

Tới đây là hết rồi 😍 Sau sample “The graph and the chart below show the number of students choosing different kinds of courses in a particular university in 2012. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.", DOL mong các bạn không chỉ nắm được cách trả lời cho dạng bài Mixed chart, mà còn học được những từ vựng và cấu trúc hay để miêu tả các biểu đồ tương tự nhé.

Mình cùng nhau học lại những cấu trúc hay đươc dùng trong bài nhé!

1. Cấu trúc so sánh

- So sánh nhất: SV + the most + Adj dài + Noun

Ví dụ: Social sciences were by far the most popular subjects.

- So sánh bội số

Ví dụ: 7000 students pursued social sciences, more than double the figure for engineering.

- So sánh bằng

Ví dụ: Agriculture was the only course that had an equal number of male and female students, at around 200 each.

- Sử dụng từ vựng mang nét nghĩa so sánh

Ví dụ: While the number of male students in engineering, science, and mathematics outnumbered their female counterparts.

Ví dụ: 4000 female students majored in social science, surpassing the number of men by 1000.

2. Cấu trúc tương phản

- While SV, SV

Ví dụ: While the number of male students in engineering, science, and mathematics outnumbered their female counterparts, the opposite pattern can be observed in the remaining subjects, except for agriculture.

=> Giải thích: Engineering, science, and mathematics (male > female) >< the remaining subjects (female > male), except for agriculture.

- SV, but SV

Ví dụ: A similar pattern can be seen in courses related to health and humanities, but the gap was smaller.

- SV. In contrast, SV

Ví dụ: A similar pattern [...] with roughly 1500 female students compared to just under 1000 males. In contrast, the number of males pursuing engineering, sciences and mathematics, [...] was significantly higher than that of females...

3. Cấu trúc dùng để chuyển sang thông tin khác

- Regarding + Noun, SV

Ví dụ: Regarding the total enrollment, 7000 students pursued social sciences.

- In terms of + Noun, SV

Ví dụ: In terms of the ratio between men and women, 4000 female students majored in social science, surpassing the number of men by 1000.
