1. Phân biệt mệnh đề quan hệ (MĐQH) rút gọn với V_ing và V_3/ed
- Dạng V_ing: dùng trong trường hợp động từ của mệnh đề quan hệ đang ở thể chủ động (chủ ngữ thực hiện hành động) (1); hoặc bổ nghĩa cho cả mệnh đề đi trước (2).
Ví dụ: Illnesses accounted for 45% of the total reasons, exceeding the figure for family responsibility by roughly 20%.
Giải thích: exceeding bổ nghĩa cho mệnh đề "Illnesses accounted for 45% of the total reasons".
- Dạng V_3/ed: dùng trong trường hợp động từ của mệnh đề quan hệ đang ở thể bị động (chủ ngữ bị thực hiện một hành động).
Ví dụ: Factors associated with illnesses and familial obligations exhibited a declining trend, whereas the other responses demonstrated an upward trajectory.
Giải thích: Factors ở thể bị động (vì Factors (những yếu tố) thì không thể thực hiện hành động) --> Dùng MĐQH rút gọn với V_3/ed (associated).
2. Cách group data
- Nhóm các đối tượng có trend giống nhau.
Ví dụ: factors associated with illnesses and familial obligations exhibited a declining trend, whereas the other responses demonstrated an upward trajectory.
--> Illnesses và familial obligations có xu hướng giảm (declining trend); các đối tượng còn lại có xu hướng tăng (upward trajectory).
3 Cách để đưa ra thông tin (trend) trái ngược nhau
- Dùng linking words: SV, whereas SV; SV, while SV
Ví dụ: factors associated with illnesses and familial obligations exhibited a declining trend, whereas the other responses demonstrated an upward trajectory.
- Cấu trúc với before Ving
Ví dụ: Absences for personal appointments and similar needs reached a peak of 20% in 2000 before experiencing a marginal decline of 3% over the subsequent five years.
--> reached a peak >< a marginal decline
- Dùng cụm displayed an opposing pattern: S1V. S2 displayed an opposing pattern, with + DATA
Ví dụ: Absenteeism due to health and family matters observed a decrease, declining to 35% and 20% respectively in 2010. Unexpected issues and stress displayed an opposing pattern, with corresponding figures being approximately 14% and 11%.
--> 35% and 20% >< 14% and 11%
